Real actual knitting content!

Not so long between posts this time.  I've been keeping myself busy with lots of knitting while watching lots of sci fi on tv.  This has been the latest object of my affection.

RapunzellgIt's Rapunzel from Rowan 34 (maybe 35 - the one with Birch in it).  I've been coveting this sweater for ages and deceided this was the perfect oppourtunity to start it.  I'm loving it so far.  The pattern really holds my interest.  Between the diagnol ribbing and the intarsia moss stitch I have plenty to pay attention to as I knit.  (And as an aside may I add how time consuming intarsia is!)  The one thing I hate is all the ends I have to weave in.  Every fourth row is a row of Rowan't Lurex Shimmer instead of the kid classic.  Since it's only on every fourth row you never get the oppourtunity to carry the yarn back to the original position.  The only choice is to cut it.  Lots and lots of ends to weave.  I've been doing it as I go along to save myself from jumping off a building later.

The yarn is Rowan Kid Classic in glacier, a very pretty light blue - the same as in the magazine.  I've had it sitting around in my stash for about 2 years now.  I just needed to pick up the Lurex Shimmer.  The pattern used the Lurex Shimmer in pewter, which I had intended to use as well but Lurex shimmer has been discontinued and finding it proved impossible.  I managed to find 4 balls of Lurex Shimmer in minty a gorgeous sparkly blue color.  It is much more noticeable than the pewter would have been, but it works great with the kid classic.

Here's a close up of the intarsia pattern.  Have I mentioned how time consuming that intarsia seed stitch is?  I spend half my time making sure that the balls of yarn don't get too tangled up.

I actually finished up the back piece last night and started work on the side panels.  I have a few other projects to update on as well.  So definitely more to come!

I was just wondering how you were this morning and you make a new post! The yarn is very pretty. How's the job search going? Sorry to hear about the bad interview.

Gald to hear from you again! The sweater is a beauty.

Rapunzel is beautiful and that color will be great on you! Glad to see you back too.

That sweater is going to be fantastic. What sci-fi have you been watching?

That sweater is gorgeous. I'm sure it'll be worth all the work in the end. If you don't want to cut the yarn every fourth row you can knit the sweater with circulars, and just start each row at whichever end the yarn you need happens to be at.

I think the colors look great together- good choice!

I can't wait to get started on this...
