Pattern Source: Vogue Knitting Holiday 2005 (#23)
Yarn: Elann's Peruvian Wool in Autumn Peach (slightly more than 20 balls)
Changes: Only one. The collar was supposed to be knit to 9 inches long. I have a short neck, and prefer mock turtlenecks anyways so I only knit to about 4 1/2 inches.
Project Started: January 2005
Project Ended: March 23, 2006 - although no work was done on it from approx. May 2005 until late Dec. 2005
Vogue 23 was time consuming, but not really difficult even though it was rated an advanced pattern. I'm glad I didn't let the rating scare me off. I had a few problems with thin spots in with the Elann Peruvian wool, but not enough to scare me off of using it again for another sweater. I'd just watch for weak points more carefully.
I adore the sweater, and hope to get lots of use out of it next winter.

Pattern: Harry Potter Sweater from Rowan
Yarn: Rowan Felted Tweed - Bilberry (7-8 balls), Sigh (1 Ball)
Changes: Letter "M" instead of the letter "H"
Final Thoughts: I really like the finished sweater for this. Perfect for a child (or and adult). It was only my second try at intarsia, and I think it came out okay. I did pull the carry along yarn a bit too tightly, but once I steam blocked the pieces it helped even the tension out. A full range of letters would have been a nice touch with the pattern, but it was easy enough to change the given "H" to a "M". It's a shame this pattern was discontinued.
I would probably make this sweater again. The only detriment would be that all that stockinette with sport yarn was a bit dull. I certainly wouldn't be knitting two of them in a row again. Both girls have the same initial, so at least the larger sweater will be getting plenty of use.
